5th Grade- Folk art Landscape

5th graders learned about the history of landscape painting. We talked about how this genre has been evolved by looking at well known landscape paintings through out history by Thomas Cole, John Constable, Claude Monet, Paul Gaugin, Andre Derain, Georges Seurat, Charles Fazzino, Karla Gerard, Heather Galler and Romero Britto. We discussed about the various art movements like Romanticism, Impressionism, Fauvism, Pointillism, Folk art, and Pop art. Students were able to visually recognize the differences in the style of the art movements and created their own landscape painting in folk art style and used a lot of patterns and designs.
