Art History

Art history is one of the important components of our curriculum. Each grade level is focused on learning about the lives of the old masters and contemporary artists. This year, some potential artists that we studied are Piet Mondrian, Vincent Van Gogh, Henri Rousseau, Dr.Suess, Pablo Picasso, Romero Britto, Maud Lewis, Ted Harrison, Heather Galler, Burton Morris, Victor Vassarely, Maria Martinez, Jim Dine, Roy Lichenstein, George Catlin, Wayne Theibaud and James Rizzi. Also, each grade level experimented various materials and genres. Here are the artworks for the year 2018-2019... We had an amazing year doing some great artworks!!!!

Our art curriculum is based  on exploration in arts and provides opportunity for students to express and explore with wide range of materials through drawing, painting, working with clay, construction, fabric and craft materials .  Art lessons and projects are developed to demonstrate the understanding of how to use elements of art( line, space, shape and form, colors, texture) and principles of art(Balance, emphasis, movement, proportion, rhythm, unity, and variety). Each grade level will have experience working with a variety of materials and  explore different genre like portraits, landscapes, still life, cityscapes, cartoon, abstract etc., Each grade will be introduced to art history and  learn about the lives and work of masters and contemporary artists and create a master piece inspired by famous  painting from art history.
