FOLK ART

Our 3rd grade students learned about the folk artist, Heather Galler. To understand the folk art style, we looked at the paintings of the other artists and compared them to those of Heather Galler. Students made unique FOLK ART cats by using their creativity in choosing different lines, shapes and colors.

Our art curriculum is based  on exploration in arts and provides opportunity for students to express and explore with wide range of materials through drawing, painting, working with clay, construction, fabric and craft materials .  Art lessons and projects are developed to demonstrate the understanding of how to use elements of art( line, space, shape and form, colors, texture) and principles of art(Balance, emphasis, movement, proportion, rhythm, unity, and variety). Each grade level will have experience working with a variety of materials and  explore different genre like portraits, landscapes, still life, cityscapes, cartoon, abstract etc., Each grade will be introduced to art history and  learn about the lives and work of masters and contemporary artists and create a master piece inspired by famous  painting from art history.
