TK- Van Gogh inspired Sunflower painting

We introduced the artist Vincent Van Gogh and talked about his life and why he painted sunflowers. Step by step instructions were given to the students and emphasized on drawing big. We talked about the line, shape and size. We used oil pastels to color sunflowers and liquid watercolors to paint the background.

Our art curriculum is based  on exploration in arts and provides opportunity for students to express and explore with wide range of materials through drawing, painting, working with clay, construction, fabric and craft materials .  Art lessons and projects are developed to demonstrate the understanding of how to use elements of art( line, space, shape and form, colors, texture) and principles of art(Balance, emphasis, movement, proportion, rhythm, unity, and variety). Each grade level will have experience working with a variety of materials and  explore different genre like portraits, landscapes, still life, cityscapes, cartoon, abstract etc., Each grade will be introduced to art history and  learn about the lives and work of masters and contemporary artists and create a master piece inspired by famous  painting from art history.
