4th Grade- Grandma Moses inspired Winter Landscape

4th graders watched a video on the life of Grandma Moses. It was interesting for the students to find out that how Grandma Moses started painting at the age of 78 and continued to paint until she was 101. We painted a beautiful winter village inspired by Grandma Moses paintings.

Our art curriculum is based  on exploration in arts and provides opportunity for students to express and explore with wide range of materials through drawing, painting, working with clay, construction, fabric and craft materials .  Art lessons and projects are developed to demonstrate the understanding of how to use elements of art( line, space, shape and form, colors, texture) and principles of art(Balance, emphasis, movement, proportion, rhythm, unity, and variety). Each grade level will have experience working with a variety of materials and  explore different genre like portraits, landscapes, still life, cityscapes, cartoon, abstract etc., Each grade will be introduced to art history and  learn about the lives and work of masters and contemporary artists and create a master piece inspired by famous  painting from art history.
